Man Behind the Mirror…I Mean, the Man Behind Spellbound and SpellMaster

The man behind these two apps is a Mr Sim Kwang Hee, Vice Principal of Stalford Academy.

An educator at heart, Mr Sim is passionate – to the point of being fanatical – about incorporating AI into the teaching of the English Language.

So, in addition to his already-hectic duties at Stalford Academy, Mr Sim has devoted his scarce, remaining waking hours engineering multiple apps that will propel the teacher’s efficiency and effectiveness in the teaching of the English Language.

And that’s why I am penning this blog post.

Leaving such powerful apps unnoticed – and leaving the efforts of this dedicated man unnoticed – is doing injustice in so many ways that can hardly be justified.

A Note at the End – About AI-Writing

Forgive for my wryness, if you do detect it. I am just trying to prove – to myself at least – a point.

AI-writing can’t replace a human, at least not totally, and at least not at the moment.

Humans come with opinions, whether justified or ill-conceived. It’s what makes us fallible, and interesting as well.

The same logic extends to writing.

It’s the human-ness in the writing that makes the text palatable.

With that being said, we know that technology is advancing in leaps and bounds. One day not too far away from now, AI will possess opinions like us.

I don’t know if I or we will celebrate this day; but I believe the day is inevitable.

Till then, you’ll have to make do with my cynical piece of prose.

Who told you to land yourself here in the first place?

But nothing takes away the utility value of SpellBound and SpellMaster.

The Future of AI in Teaching and Writing

This post has taken more than a month from conceptualisation to publication. Microsoft Copilot took less than 2 minutes to generate this blog post, and I took more than a month to vet and pepper this with my own opinions.

We can obviously see who the clear winner is. Perhaps I (and we) should embrace this AI new kid on the block to the max. We can be faster, more efficient and more rational in so many ways.
